These days, if you spend £400 on a budget Home Cinema amp, you get loads of power, 1080p upscaling and more HDMI inputs than you are ever likely to need. You could therefore argue that if you're going to spend more than £400 on an amp, there needs to be a good reason for doing so. Sometimes this reason is obvious, as in the case of the Yamaha RX-V2065, which has the very desirable network facility, or the Marantz 6004, which has twin HDMI outputs. Sometimes, as in the case with the Denon 2310, the reason seems less obvious.

Until you get into the demonstration room that is, because we should always remember that the MAIN reason for spending more money on an audio product is its SOUND QUALITY and this is where to 2310 absolutely excels. If you line the Denon up against any of the £400 amps, it absolutely wipes the floor with them and (rather alarmingly) it does exactly the same to some of the £1000 designs. This is ultimately why the 2310 has proved to be such a hit with customers and also of course, why it has just taken the coveted 'Best Buy' in the 2009-2010 What Hi-Fi awards. This is an excellent amp, with superb connectivity and amazing sound quality!
