| Sometimes only the best will do - and in the world of in-wall speakers, Dali's new Phantom range represents the pinnacle of current development. Its phenomenal success shouldn't really come as that much of a surprise, since the Danish company's IKON 6 has dominated both the Stereo and Home Cinema markets for the past 12 months. It is a universally popular speaker, winning more international awards than anything else I can ever remember. The competition must have been dreading it, but I guess it was only a matter of time before Dali applied IKON technology to an in-wall design, and dominated that market too. So that's what they've done! Take those famous IKON 6 drivers, mount them into an ultra-rigid, die-cast, easy-fit, in-wall enclosure, then back the whole package up with the awesome IKON sub and you've got the Dali Phantom in-wall package. What's more, the font grilles of these speakers are detachable for spray painting, so the whole system can be made to 'disapear' into the wall - rather like a phantom (who said the Danes haven't got a sense of humour!).

The Phantoms represent the holy grail of in-wall design - virtual invisibility, combined with the sound of a floorstander. There is simply nothing else on this earth like them! |
