When Tannoy first brought their award-winning, £1200 Arena system to us, I thought it was a brilliant-sounding package, spoilt by two issues. Firstly, I felt the subwoofer was rather over-elaborate. Secondly, the (all important) wall brackets weren't included and cost a hefty £375 extra. I said to Tannoy that if they could replace the subwoofer with something less elaborate, but of similar performance and bring down the overall system price, they'd have a real winner on their hands.

So that's what they've done! For this version (called the Arena Lite) Tannoy have ditched the over-fancy sub in favour of a more traditional design, with exactly the same size driver and power output. The result is that we can now sell this amazing system for just £799. We've then sweetened the deal even further by throwing in five Tannoy Arena wall brackets, plus five Tannoy Arena grilles, plus a £145 QED cable bundle (total RRP £550) - all for free! The engineering and sound quality of the Arenas is beyond comparison - their wideband dual-concentric drivers outperform everything by a clear margin. KEF's excellent new KHT 3005SEs get closest, but even they can't match the Tannoys (and the KEFs cost an awful lot more!). Stick a set of Arena Lites with a modern flat screen TV and you / your wife / your bank manager will all be in Home Cinema Heaven!
