The new NAP 250 shouldn't really be called a 250 at all; it's significantly more powerful, but Naim wanted to retain the much-loved name of the old favourite.
This new model uses the same 007 transistors that are found in the mighty NAP 500. It also has an impressive (and flippin' heavy!) new toroidal transformer. I could quote some amazing techno-facts to you - like, 400 VA transient ability - but you probably wouldn't know what that really means.... and neither do I, to be honest; after all, my degree's in Zoology ... I bet Naim's designers don't know what happens if you step on a Wobbegong, or how many Tardigrades you could fit in a tea-cup!
The point is, you don't have to understand amplifier design to appreciate it - everyone can hear the difference that an amp of this quality can bring to a HiFi system.
I'll try to put it into words; imagine waking up to find someone is waving a photo of a crowd of people in your face - you can see that there are a lot of people in the photo, that they're all of different sizes and are wearing different clothes, but you can't really make out the detail. Now imagine that the person has stopped waving the photo about and has, very sensibly, given you a cup of tea. You take a sip, rub the sleep from your eyes and look at the photo again. Now you can see everything! That's what the 250 does - complex musical passages, that previously were hard to follow (and enjoy!), now make perfect sense.
Real instrument dynamics - so hard for a HiFi system to reproduce - are now easily attainable. If you like music which creates feelings of spine-tingling emotion, you must hear the new NAP 250.
We are currently offering very attractive part exchange prices for old Naim equipment.
